Even if you're new to networking, ShareTool takes you through the setup process step by step. Normally you'd probably have to have SSH or VPN expertise to setup something like ShareTool provides so it's a lot less hassle. Be warned though, that if the computer or server you are connecting to shuts down or crashes, there's no way to restart it with ShareTool, which renders it a bit useless in such situations.
For your security, ShareTool also issues an email to you whenever a remote connection is established but some users have noted this is useful since it only provides the internal IP address of the user which for dynamic IPs, is going to make it very hard to find out who it is.
